Status: These are shallow basket, cast frame speakers employing 4" edgewound voice coils, curvalinear cones, and 4" aluminum dustcaps. We have completed the design on the magnetic circuit and have ordered all of the required metal stock and magnets to begin production. We are currently searching the world for a suitable shallow cast basket, however, if we don't find one by the end of the year, we intend to do our own casting for both the 12" and the 15". In addition to the AlNiCo versions, we have ceramic versions on the drawing board. We are also investigating a 10" version (P10H) which will use a 3" voice coil. For those who recognize the features of these models, we would point out that the 'H' suffix for this series refers to Harvey Gerst, who, while working at JBL, had the idea for the original D110F, D120F, and D130F speakers for musical instrument application. He was largely responsible for their development and implementation. The availability of a suitable basket for this series and/or our decision whether to cast our own will be the main cause of production and introduction delays, however, we intend to have this series available by the end of the first quarter '98.
